Epiphaneotos

The sinner

Icarus flew too close to the sun,
I have learnt from his mistake,
and made sure never to suffer the same fate.

I have learnt how not to love you,
surrendering to the moon,
to forget your warmth.

I do not dare to look at you unless I’ve confessed my sins,
sins that I confess to you,
you, the cause of my sins.

I, for my heart, am a sinner,
I, for my heart, should burn,
like Icarus.
